Frequently Asked Questions
How random are the generated passwords?
The generator uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (Web Crypto API), not a predictable pseudo-random function, so results are suitable for real account security.
Are the passwords stored or logged anywhere?
No. Every password is generated locally in your browser and never sent to a server or saved once you leave or reload the page — copy it somewhere safe right away.
Why should I include symbols and numbers instead of just using a longer word?
Mixing character types increases the pool of possible combinations at each position, which matters most for shorter passwords. For very long passwords, length alone already provides strong security even with fewer character types.
Can I exclude ambiguous characters like 0, O, l, and 1?
If your password character options include an ambiguous-character toggle, enabling it removes lookalike characters, which is useful for passwords that need to be typed manually or read aloud.
What password length should I use?
16 characters or more is recommended for most accounts today; use the maximum allowed length for particularly sensitive accounts like email or financial services.
